Drawing with SAT: four methods and A tool for producing railway infrastructure schematics

Abstract Schematic drawings showing railway tracks and equipment are commonly used to visualize operations communicate system specifications construction blueprints. Recent advances in on-line collaboration modeling tools have raised the expectations for quickly making changes models, resulting frequent layouts, text, and/or symbols schematic drawings. Automating creation of high-quality views from geographical topological models can help engineers produce update efficiently. This paper introduces four methods automatically producing with increasing level quality control over result. The final method, implemented open-source tool that we developed, use any combination following optimization criteria, which different priorities cases: width height drawing, diagonal line lengths, number bends.
